Yesterday SBCOutpost shared about the launch of Ed Stetzer’s blog and today we have the pleasure of sharing about another addition to the blogworld that is coming from the forward thinking minds in Nashville. We recieved this notice this morning.

The Southern Baptist Stewardship Development Association, Ashley Clayton with the SBC Executvie Committee, and Ben Stroup with LifeWay Envelope Service have begun a collaborative blog specifically for church leaders and pastors to address the issues of stewardship and giving.

If you are interested in acessing this new blog that features the concepts of Christian stewardship, and/or giving, we would encourage you to check them out. You can do so by visiting their blog here.

I didn’t know we had an envelope service.
That sounds kind of funny, when you think about it.

We have had the envelope service for many years, but “envelope pushing” is all new for us. We also have these boxes we get inside…but that’s another topic. :)

You know, I went over to both Ed’s blog and the stewardship blog and saw some really good stuff. Here is a thought: With some of the folks that serve Baptist through our entities beginning to blog, are we beginning to see a revolution in how our denominational servants minister to local churches? What I mean is, if true ministry discussions led by those in denominiational leadership begins to happen, does this not more effectively open up the learning process for all of us?

If you are tired of constant political blogging, raise your hand. I thought so! If a more open discussion can begin to take place about missional living and ministry, stewardship, church leadership, etc., led by denominational leaders as well as local church pastors, then everyone wins. The trick is to keep it from all being PC in the sense that it is always so sanitized that it just spouts the party line on everything. True discussion and interaction on real issues has to take place, or blogging will become as effective and interesting as some of the Baptist Papers.

Anyway, I am very encouraged by Lifeway’s leadership here. I hope that it continues. We are seeing some of that on the mission field with IMB missionaries hosting blogs that allow all of us to interact with what they are doing. I pray that this type of openness and accessibility increases.

Maybe this is what those who endorsed SBC Outpost yesterday were hoping for. Hmmm.
